In a significant political shift, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a historic victory in West Bengal, marking the end of the Trinamool Congress's (TMC) 15-year rule. For the first time, the BJP is set to form the government in the state. Suvendu Adhikari, the first BJP Chief Minister of Bengal, will take his oath of office on Saturday, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The newly elected legislators have unanimously chosen Mr. Adhikari as the leader of their legislative party. The 57-year-old politician contested the recently concluded assembly elections from both Nandigram and Bhabanipur, securing victories in both constituencies. Notably, he defeated former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur by a margin of 15,115 votes. Stay tuned for updates throughout the day:
