Kolkata. A historic moment has arrived in the politics of West Bengal. Senior BJP leader Subhendu Adhikari took oath as the first BJP Chief Minister of the state on Saturday, May 9. The 15-year long rule of Trinamool Congress has come to an end and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, CM Yogi are present in the grand ceremony to be held at the Brigade Parade Ground.

BJP has secured an overwhelming majority in the 2026 assembly elections. The party won 207 seats in the 294-seat assembly, while the Trinamool Congress was reduced to just 80 seats. Congress got 2 seats, AJUP got 2 seats and CPI(M) got 1 seat. This victory is not just in numbers but is being considered a symbol of a major change in the political direction of the state.

Mix of experience, youth and diversity in cabinet

An official announcement has just been made by BJP, the list of ministers has also come out. The party has formed the cabinet while maintaining social, regional and cultural balance. This includes senior and veteran faces.

-Big woman leader of BJP in West Bengal Agnimitra Paul Has also been administered the oath of office as a minister. She is the vice president of BJP in Bengal.

-Among the big leaders of BJP in Bengal Ashok Kirtania Has also taken oath as minister. He became MLA by winning the election from Bangaon North.

-MLA from Ranibandh seat of Bankura district of Bengal Khudiram Tudu Has taken oath as minister.

This cabinet will not only be based on political experience, but an effort was also seen to give adequate representation to North Bengal, tribal areas, women and youth.

Bengal is now on the path of development and change

This government led by Subhendu Adhikari will write a new chapter in the politics of the state. Voters have given the mandate for change and now all eyes are on how quickly the new government fulfills its promises.
