Kolkata: Today a historical chapter is going to be added in the politics of West Bengal. Political activity is at its peak in Kolkata as Suvendu Adhikari is going to take oath as the Chief Minister today. Kolkata has been decorated like a bride for this grand ceremony. Many political stalwarts including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President Nitin Nabin are participating in the program. But the biggest question floating among all this is whether Mamata Banerjee will be a part of this function?

In fact, after this major upheaval in power in Bengal, everyone’s eyes are fixed on Raj Bhavan. Will ‘Didi’ attend the swearing-in ceremony of her arch rival Suvendu Adhikari? Raising the curtain on this suspense, West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya has made it clear that as per the protocol, a formal invitation has been sent to Mamata Banerjee. Now the ball is in Mamata Banerjee’s court whether she becomes a part of this democratic tradition or not.

BJP’s rule on Shyama Prasad’s land

For BJP, this moment is not just a change of power, but an ideological victory. Samik Bhattacharya said emotionally, “This was not just our dream, but the dream of lakhs of BJP workers of Bengal is coming true today. Now on this sacred land of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, a government with his ideology is going to be formed. Suvendu Adhikari becoming the Chief Minister is one of the biggest proud moments of our lives.”

It is being told that this ceremony is being seen as a big show of strength at the national level. This is the reason why Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of 22 states have already camped in Kolkata. BJP wants to send a message through this occasion that a new era has now begun in Bengal.

Mamta’s defeat and that date of 7th May

This change in Bengal politics has been quite dramatic. In fact, Mamata Banerjee had flatly refused to accept the election results. The situation had reached such a stage that he did not even resign from the post of Chief Minister. After this the Governor had to intervene and dissolve the Assembly. Officially the tenure of Bengal Assembly had ended on 7th May itself.

Samik Bhattacharya, while making a scathing attack on the Mamata government, said that the people of Bengal have uprooted the ‘Jungle Raj’. He called it the real victory of democracy. Although, there has been no official confirmation from Mamata Banerjee yet about attending the swearing-in ceremony, but experts believe that considering the current tension, the chances of her coming are very less.

Preparations for swearing in of Suvendu Adhikari completed

Strict security arrangements have been made in Kolkata. Due to the presence of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, police forces are deployed at every nook and corner. Huge enthusiasm is being seen among BJP workers and people from different parts of the state are reaching Kolkata to see their new Chief Minister.

The officer, who was once Mamata Banerjee’s most important commander, is now going to take command of the state as her alternative. It will be interesting to see what Suvendu’s first priorities are after taking oath and how Mamata Banerjee adapts to her new role as the opposition.
