Nancy Guthrie Case Update: Fresh updates have surfaced in the Nancy Guthrie disappearance case, where authorities are releasing more details after remains were found near Nancy Guthrie's Arizona home. This comes as the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie remains missing after more than three months of her alleged abduction.

In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the Tucson Police Department revealed that a human bone was found on Thursday (May 7, 2026) at North Craycroft Road and East River Road, about seven miles from Nancy’s house in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood.

Dubbing the probe into the finding as a “prehistoric anthropological investigation,” the spokesperson said it was not criminal in nature. Police further stated that the University of Arizona Department of Anthropology and the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner assisted.

The latest discovery in the Nancy Guthrie case comes as investigators continue searching for her. She has been missing since January 31, 2026, and authorities were alerted by her family on February 1. 2026

A team of investigators, led by Pima County sheriff Chris Nanos and later joined by the FBI, believes that Nancy was taken away from her home against her will, suspecting abduction by a masked man who was captured on surveillance footage outside her front door in the early morning hours of February 1, 2026.

Earlier, as the investigation into the matter intensified and authorities combed the areas in Nancy’s neighborhood, investigators stated that her blood was found outside the home, along with “mixed DNA” that is still being tested in hopes of identifying a suspect.

A mixed sample contains genetic material from more than one person, making it more difficult to isolate an individual profile, CeCe Moore, chief genetic genealogist at Parabon NanoLabs, previously told PEOPLE.

Despite hundreds of leads, no suspects have been identified in the case. She was allegedly kidnapped by a masked man in the middle of the night on February 1, 2026. Amid the ongoing investigation, the Guthrie family and the FBI offered a reward of over $1 million in total for any piece of information on her.
