Riteish Deshmukh starrer and directorial Raja Shivaji collected Rs 57.70 crore in week one and saw a good hold on day eight collecting around Rs 3.75 crore taking the lifetime total to Rs 61.40 crore in eight days.
This makes Raja Shivaji the top performing movie in India on Friday beating the holdover as well as six new releases like Neetu Kapoor and Kapil Sharma’s Daadi Ki Shaadi and the devotional epic Krishnavataram – Part One: Hridayam.

The movie opened to mixed response and collected a poor Rs 50-60 lakh range on day one.
The second major Hindi release, Hardik Gajjar’s Krishnavataram – Part One: Hridayam made a total of Rs 1.50 crore including Rs 35-40 lakh from paid previews on Thursday, May 7.
While the number is pretty good considering the movie’s lack of face value, the budget of Krishnavataram – Part One: Hridayam is on the higher side, which means the number should’ve been much higher.

There was also Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Main Actor Nahin Hoon which saw a limited release and made only around Rs 5 lakh.
Both Daadi Ki Shaadi and Krishnavataram – Part One: Hridayam are expected to witness growth at the box office on day two i.e. Saturday.
Meanwhile, the new Hollywood release Mortal Kombat II saw decent collections earning Rs 1.50-1.75 crore on day one.
Another Hollywood release of the week, Hugh Jackman’s The Sheep Detectives was a washout earning Rs 25 lakh despite rave reviews.

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla is heading towards Rs 150 crore mark. The movie on its fourth Friday made Rs 1.25 crore taking the total domestic biz to Rs 136.44 crore.
As for Raja Shivaji, the period epic is expected to hit Rs 80 crore mark by the end of weekend two and has the potential to go past Rs 100 crore making it the top grossing movie of Marathi cinema.
