New Delhi, 9 May. Olympian Vinesh Phogat, who is trying to make a comeback in the international wrestling world, has once again come under the target of WFI after accusing former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Braj Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment.

In this sequence, the Wrestling Federation on Saturday issued a show cause notice to Vinesh Phogat, accusing her of indiscipline and violation of anti-doping rules and banned her from participating in domestic tournaments till June 26, 2026 for not giving the mandatory six months notice for withdrawal from retirement under the anti-doping rules of UWW.

In a 15-page notice, the WFI alleged that Vinesh’s conduct has caused embarrassment to the nation, tarnished the image of Indian wrestling, and violated the provisions of the WFI Constitution, UWW International Wrestling rules and anti-doping rules.

The federation has sought clarification from him on four major charges, which include his disqualification from the 2024 Paris Olympics, alleged failure to disclose his whereabouts under anti-doping rules and participation in two weight categories in the trials conducted by the then ad-hoc committee appointed by the IOA in March 2024.

The WFI has clearly said that Phogat cannot participate in any domestic tournament till June 26 this year, including the National Open Ranking tournament to be held in Gonda from May 10 to 12. “The federation must be satisfied that you have not committed any anti-doping rule violation that would render you ineligible to represent the federation in any future competition,” the notice said.
