Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen has opened up about her large family following a stark warning from a stranger. Amanda and ex-husband share nine children together - Reuben, 22, Raven, 24, Miles, 18, Edith, 15, Violet, 15, Sid, 14, Annas, 12, Clemmie, 10 and Nancy, nine. Reuben is set to appear in a documentary series of his own titled 'Reuben: Life in the Dales' on Channel 5 today (May 9).
Amanda previously addressed her large family and how much fun she was enjoying being a parent, mainly because of what was happening to her children's personalities. Amanda said her current feelings were in stark contrast to a strange warning she received from a woman who claimed she would have a tougher time when her children got older.
She told the Good Housekeeping UK podcast last year: "I love it. This is the best of parenthood. I was warned of this because I always remember a lady coming to the door and saying, 'You'll pay the price one of these days. When they're teenagers your life will be hell'.
"Sorry, I think this will be the best stage. I was never very mumsy which sounds silly when you've got nine children. I never really was. I would have in the car seat and I would put them down somewhere, forget where I'd put them, things like that.
"I mean it was always in a field. But now they're really getting their characters coming through and I feel like, if I was looking at it in a selfish way, they keep me feeling relevant. They keep me, sort of, with it."
Reuben is following his mother into the world of television with his Channel 5 series, one which sees him attempt to grow his heavy plant machinery business with friends Tommy and Sarah.
Despite only being in his early twenties, Reuben is running his own business, Reuben Owen Ltd, one which takes on a variety of work including drainage and landscaping; he shares updates about the work on his Facebook page.
Away from his business ventures and time on the UK's screens, there has also been renewed attention because of Reuben's girlfriend, one Jessica Ellwood.
Jessica, also a farmer, works on her parent's Brough Castle farm with the pair getting together in October 2024, having met at a young farmer's convention.
The pair, like many couples, share posts featuring each other on social media and have even reportedly spent Christmas and Valentine's Day together.
Speaking about the dynamic between Jessica and his mother to the Mirror, Reuben said: "Mum and Jess get on well, they talk about sheep together, they all approve and they all get along really well."
Reuben Owen: Life in the Dales airs on Channel 5 at 5pm on Saturday (May 9).
