Delhi Capitals registered an unwanted record on Friday, May 8, after becoming the first franchise in the Indian Premier League history to lose 150 matches. The disappointing milestone came during their IPL 2026 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where the home side went down by 8 wickets.

Chasing a target of 143 runs, KKR comfortably reached the total in just 14.2 overs. The star of the match was New Zealand batter Finn Allen who smashed a sensational century in only 47 balls. The 27 years old right-handed batter played an explosive knock, hitting 5 fours and 10 sixes to guide KKR to their fourth victory of the ongoing IPL 2026 season.

The defeat turned out to be DC’s seventh loss of the season and their overall 150th defeat in the IPL history. Out of those losses, Delhi Capitals have suffered 147 outright defeats, while three came in Super Overs. They now sit at the top of the list for most defeats in the tournament, with Punjab Kings following behind them.

In overall T20 cricket history, the record for most defeats belongs to English county side Middlesex. The London-based team has lost 171 matches out of the 272 T20 games they have played so far. Derbyshire are second on the list with 152 defeats in 257 matches, while Delhi Capitals now occupy the third spot with 150 losses in 285 IPL games.

Finn Allen’s remarkable innings also helped him enter KKR’s record books. His 47-ball century became the fastest hundred scored for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL history, breaking the previous record held by Venkatesh Iyer. Venkatesh Iyer had reached his century in 49 balls against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 16, 2023, during the IPL 2023.
