In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, amidst the heat of Lok Sabha elections, the call of cabinet expansion has once again raised the political temperature, on which Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has taken a sharp taunt at the BJP as well as both the Deputy CMs of the state. Ahead of the assembly elections to be held next year, speculation is rife about a reshuffle in the cabinet of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and according to sources, the names of about half a dozen new ministers have been finalised. In this connection, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had recently met Governor Anandiben Patel, after which the possibility of cabinet expansion on May 10 is being expressed.
Regarding this possible cabinet expansion, Akhilesh Yadav targeted BJP through a post on his social media platform ‘X’. He asked sarcastically, “Has the slip arrived from Delhi?” Commenting further, Akhilesh said that the cabinet is expanding in Uttar Pradesh or it can be called ‘erosion’ of the power of the Chief Minister. He said sarcastically that someone should also ask those who have a cabinet. Taking his point forward, the SP chief also demanded that women should be given proper reservation in the cabinet expansion of UP.
Akhilesh took a jibe at both the Deputy CMs without naming them.
In the same post, Akhilesh Yadav also strongly attacked both the Deputy CMs of the state without naming them. Referring to the “side-by-side pair”, he asked whether any ‘good’ would happen to them or whether they would ‘keep peeping side-by-side or just keep making reels’. This taunt was directly on the Deputy Chief Ministers of the state Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, whom Akhilesh had earlier also attacked by sharing the ‘reel’.
Earlier, on May 1, Akhilesh Yadav had shared a video of Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak on ‘X’ and wrote, “Mixing two stools does not make a chair!” On this statement of Akhilesh, both the Deputy CMs also gave a befitting reply. Retaliating, Keshav Prasad Maurya had said that Akhilesh’s fear of a fit and hit pair is completely justified. He further said that it is also good for the information of Akhilesh because the pair of Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak has today become a symbol of public trust.
Making his point more clear, Keshav Prasad Maurya wrote that he is a representative of the dynasty of the great Chakravarti emperor Chandragupta Maurya and is inspired by his ideals and is determined to build a united India. He also expressed his connection with the legacy of Karunavatar Lord Gautam Buddha, who showed the world the path of peace, equality and justice. However, in a direct attack on Akhilesh Yadav, Maurya alleged that the country and the state have neither forgotten nor will forget the atrocities committed on Kushwaha, Maurya, Saini and other deprived and weaker sections including Shakya Samaj in a planned manner under his patronage. He warned that these injustices will be answered democratically in the times to come and every injustice will be fully accounted for with the determination of a developed India and developed Uttar Pradesh by 2047. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak had also made a similar counterattack on Akhilesh Yadav, due to which the phase of political rhetoric has intensified.
