The wait is over, Vijay will take oath tomorrow at 10 o’clock; Majority will have to be proved in 3 days

The wait for actor-turned-politician Vijay and his supporters is over. Vijay will take oath as Chief Minister at 10 am on Sunday. On Saturday, Vijay met Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and staked claim to form the government. According to Tamil Nadu Lok Bhavan, the Governor has given time to Vijay to prove his majority on or before May 13.

 

Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) on Saturday itself got the support of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). Both the parties have won two seats each. Vijay has a total of 108 MLAs. Congress with five MLAs and CPI(M) with two MLAs have already extended their support. The number of pro-Vijay MLAs in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly has reached 120.

 

 

Soon after the announcement of support from VCK and IUML, Vijay met Governor Arlekar on Saturday. He was handed over letters of support from other parties and staked claim to form the government. Tamil Nadu Congress state president K with Vijay. Selvaperunthagai and CPI(M) State Secretary P. Shanmugam and other leaders were present. This is Vijay’s fourth meeting with the Governor in the last five days. There is a wave of happiness among Vijay’s supporters after receiving the invitation from the Governor to form the government. People celebrated by bursting crackers and distributing sweets.

 

VCK is headed by Thol Thirumavalavan. The party had earlier announced that it would take any decision in favor of Vijay only on the basis of Left parties. On Friday itself, CPI(M) and CPI extended their support to Vijay’s party TVK. Both have two MLAs each. The next day i.e. on Saturday, VCK, an ally of the Left parties, also announced its unconditional support to Vijay.

 

 

Shortly after the VCK decision, the Indian Union Muslim League extended its support to Vijay. This party also won two seats. Was an ally of DMK in the previous government. Vijay reached Raj Bhavan twice on Saturday. For the first time he did not get an appointment. Because of this he had to return empty handed. However, later Vijay along with Congress State President and CPI(M) State Secretary met the Governor and submitted the letter of support from other parties.
