Delhi: Gujarat Titans (GT) have completely changed the equations of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 77 runs in Jaipur. Gujarat, which has registered its fourth consecutive win, has now become one of the strongest contenders for the playoffs. Under the leadership of captain Shubman Gill, the team once again proved that it knows how to handle pressure in big matches.
Strong performance under the captaincy of Shubman Gill
Gujarat captain Shubhman Gill batted brilliantly and scored 84 runs in just 44 balls. His innings included 9 fours and 3 long sixes. Gill batted at a strike rate of around 191 and completely pushed the Rajasthan bowlers on the backfoot. Thanks to his innings, Gujarat scored a big score and maintained control over the match from beginning to end.
Gujarat looked completely dominant over Rajasthan
After batting, Gujarat also performed well in bowling. The team maintained constant pressure on Rajasthan’s batsmen, due to which Rajasthan could never make a comeback in the match. Gujarat bowlers made the match one-sided by taking wickets at regular intervals.
The game of points table changed with the fourth consecutive win
This was Gujarat’s fourth consecutive victory. Earlier, the team had defeated Chennai by 8 wickets, while it had defeated Bangalore by 4 wickets. Gujarat had also won against Punjab in a hard-fought match. This series of consecutive wins has greatly increased the confidence of the team.
Interestingly, Gujarat has scored more than 200 for the fourth time this season. The team also scored its highest score of IPL 2026 against Rajasthan. This is the reason why now Gujarat has 14 points with 7 wins in 11 matches.
Gujarat in race to become table topper
In the points table, Gujarat has now reached 14 points equal to Hyderabad. On the basis of better run rate, the team is currently in second place, seeing the way Gujarat has performed in the last few matches, the team is now looking like a strong contender for the title.
Shubman Gill’s statement
Shubman Gill said after the match that Gujarat played an almost perfect match against Rajasthan. The team scored 10-15 runs more than expected and the bowlers completely controlled the match by taking wickets in the beginning. Gill said that it was not easy to hit big shots against the spinners, so the team adopted the strategy of saving wickets and batting till the end. On his injury, he said that he had twisted his ankle while running, but after some time the pain subsided.
This victory of Gujarat at the crucial juncture of the season is being considered as an alarm bell for other teams.
