Bureau Prayagraj. The Supreme Court on Friday refused to grant bail to a student arrested for inciting violence during the workers’ protest in Noida on April 13. A bench of Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan asked the lawyer appearing for Aakriti Chaudhary to approach the Allahabad High Court. The bench said, why don’t you go to the High Court? Everyone comes here after filing a petition under Article 32. 93 thousand cases are already pending in the Supreme Court.
Aakriti Chaudhary’s lawyer told the court that the police did not give reasons for the arrest and sought bail. He also told the Supreme Court that Aakriti Chaudhary is a student of Delhi University. The top court also issued a notice to the police officials on the petition of a person named Keshav Anand, in which the Uttar Pradesh Police has been accused of torture.
A Noida court had earlier allowed police remand of three women, Aakriti Chaudhary, Manisha Chauhan and Srishti Gupta, with conditions. They are accused of inciting violence during the demonstration of industrial workers on 13 April. The court had also said that his lawyers would be allowed to be present during the investigation. Aakriti Choudhary and Srishti Gupta, both residents of Delhi, are in their 20s. Choudhary has done post-graduation in history from Daulat Ram College, while Manisha works in an industrial unit in Noida. In the application filed for custody, the police had said that there is every possibility of getting important evidence from the house of the accused.
