On the special occasion of ‘Poila Boishakh’ i.e. ‘Pochishe Boishakh’, the 25th day of the Bengali calendar, tributes were paid to the great poet, philosopher and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday remembered Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and said that he gave new thinking, creative energy and cultural confidence to the Indian society. Prime Minister Modi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ that Gurudev Tagore was a writer, thinker and poet of extraordinary talent. He distinguished himself as a great philosopher, educationist, artist and timeless voice of the civilizational soul of India.

PM Modi said that Tagore gave expression to the deep feelings of humanity and the best ideals of Indian culture in his works. He said that Gurudev’s thoughts are illuminating the minds of people even today and will continue to provide guidance in future also. At the same time, on behalf of CP Radhakrishnan, it was said that on the occasion of ‘Pochishe Boishakh’, I pay my humble tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore ji. Gurudev Tagore’s contribution was much wider than the field of literature.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to Gurudev and said that he gave new strength to the consciousness of freedom during the era of slavery through literature, music and philosophy. Amit Shah said that Tagore was not only a great poet but also a powerful voice of the Indian soul. He said that sensitivity in Gurudev’s words, message of freedom in thoughts and the feeling of world brotherhood are clearly visible in his writings. Amit Shah further said that Tagore’s immortal work Gitanjali gave a new direction to humanity, spirituality and sensitivity. And through ‘Jana Gana Mana’ he gave voice to the country’s unity, dignity and self-respect. He said that Gurudev’s life inspires independent thinking, human values ​​and cultural coordination.

Born on 7 May 1861 in the famous Jorasanko Thakur Bari of Kolkata, Rabindranath Tagore was the son of Sharda Devi and Debendranath Tagore. He started writing since childhood and soon made a name for himself with his talent. In the year 1913, he became the first non-European to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. Known as the ‘Bard of Bengal’, Tagore also wrote the national anthems of India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. On Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti, cultural programs, poetry recitations, dance dramas and ‘Ravindra Sangeet’ presentations are organized across the country including West Bengal.
