There has been a big change in the politics of West Bengal and Shubhendu Adhikari has become the center of this change. Shubhendu Adhikari has been sworn in as the Chief Minister after the spectacular victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the assembly elections. On this historic occasion, not only the big leaders of India but also the former Prime Minister of neighboring country Sheikh Hasina specially congratulated him.
Sheikh Hasina wrote a formal letter to Subhendu Adhikari on becoming the Chief Minister and sent many good wishes on behalf of herself and the people of Bangladesh. In this letter he mentioned the old and strong relations between India and Bangladesh. Hasina said that West Bengal and Bangladesh are linked by similar language, culture and common heritage, which makes their relations even deeper. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of Shubhendu Adhikari, this friendship will reach new heights in the times to come and both the countries will move forward together on the path of development.

This grand swearing-in ceremony was held at 11:30 am on Saturday at the famous Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah witnessed this historic moment. Before taking oath, PM Modi and Subhendu Adhikari took part in a road show.
A very emotional moment came on the stage when Prime Minister Modi touched the feet of an elderly man Makhanlal Sarkar and took his blessings, seeing which everyone present there was stunned.
Formation of new team
Along with Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari, five more of his colleagues also took oath as ministers. The names of these ministers include Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Ashok Kirtania, Khudiram Tudu and Nisith Pramanik. As soon as he became the Chief Minister, Subhendu Adhikari made it clear that his first priority is to provide security to the women of the state. Along with this, he promised that his government will work with full sincerity for the development of people of every caste and religion without any discrimination.
