The spear does come with one major drawback. The normal version has durability limits and can eventually break if you continue using it without upgrading it later. Because of this, many experienced players recommend saving it for important fights or upgrading it into the stronger Kuku Bismuth Spear as soon as possible.

Where to Find the Bismuth Spear

You can find the Bismuth Spear in the Pailune region, specifically inside the Forebearer’s Barrens area. The exact location is near a landmark called the Well of Enlightenment. This area becomes accessible during the middle portion of the game once the nearby blockade disappears through story progression.

When you arrive at the Well of Enlightenment, search for a circular pool surrounded by ruins and broken stone structures. Near the pool, there is a damaged building with missing walls and no roof. The structure looks abandoned, so it is easy to walk past it without realizing anything important is hidden inside.

Enter the ruined building carefully and interact with the spear placed within the structure. Once you pick it up, the weapon is immediately added to your inventory.

Several enemies can appear around the area, including dangerous creatures and a large crab-like boss nearby. Thankfully, you do not need to defeat the boss to claim the spear. Many players simply avoid combat, grab the weapon, and leave the area quickly.

Best Preparation Before Visiting the Area

Before traveling to the Well of Enlightenment, make sure you bring healing items and stamina recovery supplies. The surrounding desert region can become dangerous if you are underleveled or poorly equipped.

A few useful preparations include:

• Carry enough healing potions for emergency fights
• Equip light armor for easier movement and dodging
• Bring ranged weapons to distract enemies safely
• Unlock faster traversal skills before entering the desert
• Save your game before approaching the ruins

If your character is still weak, avoiding unnecessary battles is usually smarter than fighting every enemy nearby. The spear can be collected surprisingly early if you focus only on reaching the structure.

How the Bismuth Spear Works in Combat

The weapon specializes in applying bismuth damage through its unique affinity effect. When attacks connect, crystal energy builds inside enemies and slows their movement. This gives you more time to dodge, reposition, or chain additional attacks together.

The effect becomes especially useful against aggressive enemies that constantly rush the player. Slower enemies are easier to stagger, making the spear extremely effective during difficult encounters.

The weapon also supports charge mechanics. Players can build charges over time and release stronger attacks after short cooldown periods. Timing these attacks properly allows you to pressure stronger enemies while staying mobile.

Even though the spear has excellent utility, it is still important to understand its weaknesses. Heavy enemies can resist portions of the slowing effect, and the durability issue means careless players may accidentally destroy the weapon during long farming sessions.

How to Upgrade the Bismuth Spear

Later in the game, you can upgrade the standard spear into the Kuku Bismuth Spear. This improved version removes the durability problem and increases overall combat effectiveness.

To unlock the upgrade blueprint, players need to complete the Witch of Kindness mission chain. After finishing all quests, additional crafting blueprints become available through the Kuku merchant system.

The upgraded spear is considered much more reliable for long-term use because it no longer disappears after extended combat. Many players treat the original version as a temporary stepping stone until the stronger variant becomes available.
