RR vs GT: Why Was Prasidh Krishna Ruled Out After Being Named In RR vs GT Squad?
Cricket Gully | May 10, 2026 12:39 PM CST

RR and GT go head to head in their 52nd game of IPL 2026. They faced on the 9th of May on Saturday at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Stand-in RR captain Yashasvi Jaiswal won the toss and decided to bowl first in the must-win league game.

Gujarat Titans showcased an outstanding batting performance to post a huge score of 229/4 in the first innings. Sai Sudharsan played a scintillating knock of 55 and his skipper Shubman Gillsmashed a spectacular 84, which formed an 118-run stand for the opening wicket that put GT in complete command.

Later Washington Sundar chipped in with a 37-run unbeaten cameo and made sure the total was as massive as possible.

At the time of the toss against RR, Shubman Gill announced that pacer Prasidh Krishna would be part of their plans but his role remains to be seen with him featuring in their list of impact substitute choices.

However, he did not turn up to roll his arm when Gujarat started defending the massive total which left the fans confused as his name was in the list of impact players before the start of the game.

Why Gujarat Titans Chose Sai Kishore?

The unavailability of Prasidh Krishna had to do with the Jaipur conditions. During the match the pitch seemed to favor the spin bowlers and that is why Gujarat Titans chose to use Sai Kishore instead of another pacer. Gujarat management thought spin would work better during the second innings of the game.

Their list of five impact substitute choices were: Prasidh Krishna, R Sai Kishore, Glenn Phillips, Anuj Rawat and Kumar Kushagra.

Gujarat chose Sai Kishore to be their impact player in the end as per conditions on Sawai Mansingh Stadium pitch.

Prasidh Krishna's IPL 2026 Performance

The right-arm pacer may have missed the RR game but he had been performing well for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026 so far. The pacer picked 12 wickets in seven games and stands as the second-highest wicket-taker for the Titans despite having an economy of 10.34.

He even picked up a four-wicket haul in their game against LSG. However, due to concerns over his economy rate, he has not been regularly used in recent games as he played his last game against RCB on April 24.

The change once again demonstrated that teams are tinkering with their playing combinations based on pitch conditions.
