Weather Updates : Stormy rains in Vidarbha!! Orange alert issued in many districts

Weather Updates | A big change is being seen in the atmosphere in Maharashtra from last few days. On the one hand, the sun is blazing, so you have to suffer the heat all day long. Due to the heat, the limbs are literally burning, while on the other hand, unseasonal rains are being hit in some places. Today also on May 9th we get to see the double avatar of the atmosphere. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a storm warning for rain and thundershowers for several districts of the state. Especially Vidarbha is likely to be hit hard by rain.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Vidarbha’s Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha and Washim districts.Thunderstorm, lightning and light to moderate rain are likely to occur in these areas. A sudden change in the weather is predicted at some places along with the possibility of gusty winds. The meteorological department has issued an orange alert for Yavatmal and Chandrapur. Heavy rains, thunder storms and wind speed of 50 to 60 km per hour are expected there. Weather Updates

Citizens are advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from open spaces during lightning flashes.

On the other hand, hot and humid weather is likely to prevail over Mumbai and Konkan coast. According to the Meteorological Department forecast, six districts of Konkan region namely Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg will experience hot and humid weather. Residents of these areas are likely to continue to feel discomfort due to rising temperatures and humidity. On the other hand, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts may experience light to moderate rains during the evening. Weather Updates

A ‘yellow alert’ for rain has been issued for Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur districts of western Maharashtra. Cloudy conditions and light rain with thundershowers are likely at isolated places in these districts. Also, strong winds may blow during the afternoon and evening hours.

‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv (Osmanabad) districts of Marathwada. Although no official warning has been issued for districts like Beed, Hingoli, Pune, and Ahilyanagar, some isolated parts of these districts are likely to receive light showers.
