Car Safety: While buying a car in India, now not only mileage and features but also safety has become the most important factor. However, many popular cars sold in the market have proven to be very weak in terms of safety. Some models have received 0 and 1 star ratings in the Global NCAP crash test, which raises questions about the safety of passengers during serious accidents. This list includes cars from companies like Maruti Suzuki, Renault India, Citroen India and Mahindra Auto.
Cars with low safety rating
- Citroen eC3 got 0 stars for adult safety and only 1 star for child safety in Global NCAP. During the test its body structure was found unstable.
- Maruti Suzuki Eeco also proved to be weak in terms of safety. Despite having airbags, the risk of injury to the driver’s chest and knees was found to be high.
- Maruti Suzuki S-Presso got 1 star rating after the update, but its body structure is still considered unstable.
- Even a popular car like Maruti Suzuki Wagon R got only 1 star rating. Its performance in child safety was very weak.
- Renault Kwid also got 1 star. In this, the protection of the driver’s head was fine, but the protection of the chest and legs was found to be weak.
- Whereas even a strong looking SUV like Mahindra Bolero Neo got only 1 star rating.
What to look for when buying a car
According to experts, while buying a new car, one should not focus only on design and features. The car must have features like 6 airbags, ESC, ABS and strong body structure. Today, affordable cars like Tata Punch are also available in the market with 5-star safety rating, which is an example of better safety.
