Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended greetings to the people of the state on Mother’s Day, describing mothers as the “embodiment of all sacred places.”

He added, “Mother’s blessings are the true strength, inspiration, and the most sacred light on the path of life.” Dhami offered heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all residents of Uttarakhand on the occasion.
The Chief Minister highlighted his administration’s focus on respect and empowerment for women, noting the implementation of various welfare and economic initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of Matri Shakti in Uttarakhand’s development.
Dhami emphasized that the state government is continuously working to ensure the dignity, safety, and empowerment of women. He pointed out that both the Central and State Governments, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, are running several schemes for women’s welfare.
He acknowledged the significant contribution of women to the Uttarakhand statehood movement and the state’s development thereafter. He confirmed that women’s empowerment and overall development remain among the government’s top priorities.
Under the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, approximately 500,000 women are being economically empowered through 68,000 self-help groups, with over 200,000 women having become Lakhpati Didis. The state also provides 30 per cent reservation in government jobs and 33 per cent reservation in cooperative societies for women.
Dhami added that the government fulfilled its promise by implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, linking it to respect and rights for women. Furthermore, efforts are being made to enhance women’s economic independence through skill development initiatives.
