Tehran: Amid tensions in the Middle-East, Iran on Sunday sent its response to the US proposal through Pakistan. The proposal is aimed at ending the stand-off between both countries, which has been going on for the last two months.

As per news agency IRNA,  The negotiation will allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, and also a discussion on other bilateral matters.

US has not yet received response from Iran: Envoy

Earlier, Michael Waltz, US envoy to the UN, had noted that the US administration had not yet received Iran’s response to the US proposal. He had also blamed Iran’s leadership for the delay in negotiations

“We know that Mojtaba [Khamenei], the new Ayatollah, the previous Ayatollah’s son, has been severely injured. He’s in hiding. He’s incredibly difficult to get a hold of, yet the IRGC is still deferential to some degree, so that is making the negotiations go longer and slower, I think, than anyone would like,” he said in an interview with ABC. “But at the same time, those negotiations and that diplomacy are ongoing,” he said. “So we’ll see what they come back with.”

Latest tensions between US and Iran

Earlier on Saturday, Iran had issued a warning that any attack on its oil tankers or commercial vessels would lead to a “heavy assault” on one of the US bases in the Middle East. The warning was issued a day after the US struck two Iranian oil tankers.

In the meantime, Bahrain claimed to have arrested dozens of people who allegedly had links to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. In response, Iran issued a warning saying, “Siding with the US-backed resolution will bring severe consequences. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital lifeline; do not risk closing it on yourselves FOREVER.”
