90% of the work is social work, hence no need to campaign in elections… Nitin Gadkari said at the function

digital desk- Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari is known for his outspoken style and out-of-the-box work. At a grand function held in Pune, Gadkari shared his unique equation between politics and social service. He clearly said that despite being a politician, his main focus remains on social work, which is why he does not feel the need for traditional campaigning during elections. Gadkari was speaking as the chief guest on the occasion of Punya Bhushan Foundation honoring industrialist Abhay Firodia with the ‘Punya Bhushan’ award. He said that even though he is a politician, “90 percent” of his work is social work. According to Gadkari, when a leader does so much social work on the ground, he does not need to do special campaigning to seek votes during elections. He praised Firodia and described him as an industrialist who gives priority to ethics and social sensitivity in business.

Increasing craze of automobile sector and electric vehicles

During the function, Gadkari also discussed the country’s automobile industry. He said that this sector is providing jobs to the youth on a large scale. Especially referring to the Electrical Vehicle (EV) segment, he said that now it is growing rapidly. The situation is that buyers have to wait longer for electric vehicles as compared to petrol and diesel vehicles, which is a sign of the changing economy.

Water conservation in Vidarbha: Aamir Khan and Nana Patekar together

Apart from politics, Gadkari is running a big campaign to rescue the farmers of Vidarbha from the crisis. On completion of 25 years of his organization ‘Poorti Sinchan Samridhi Kalyankari Sanstha’, ‘Jal Samvad’ and ‘Jalkranti Parishad’ are being organized on 17th and 18th May. Bollywood veterans Aamir Khan, Nana Patekar and Makrand Anaspure will also participate in this noble cause. This conference will focus on ways to save water and restore groundwater in Vidarbha.

Tamaswada Model: Initiative to save farmers from suicide

Gadkari said that his organization has been working for the last 25 years to overcome the irrigation problems in Vidarbha and to provide financial stability to the farmers. He made special mention of ‘Tamaswada Rejuvenation Model’, which is getting recognized across the country today. Under this model, a 12 km long dead drain in Selu taluka has been revived. According to Gadkari, the main objective of the success of this project is to make villages and agriculture sector self-reliant so that farmers do not have to take steps like suicide.
