Bhuvneshwar Kumar created history after another top display with the ball during the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday (May 12) at the Shaheed Veer Narayan International Stadium.
The star pacer regained the purple cap as he took four wickets while conceding just 23 runs.
Bhuvneshwar got RCB a first-over wicket again by dismissing Ryan Rickelton (2 off 4) in the first over. In the third over of the match, he left Mumbai in big trouble by dismissing Rohit Sharma (22 off 10) and Suryakumar Yadav (0 off 1) on back-to-back deliveries. Later, he returned in the 18th over to dismiss MI's top scorer Tilak Varma (57 of 42).
Bhuvneshwar Kumar Creates History
Bhuvneshwar became the second-oldest pacer in history to take a four-wicket haul in the IPL. The only fast bowler to previously achieve the feat after celebrating their 36th birthday was Glenn McGrath. The Australian great had completed the landmark during the inaugural season of the league in 2008 against RCB while playing for Delhi Daredevils.
Bhuvneshwar has broken Mohit Sharma's record for being the oldest pacer to take a four-for against MI. Meanwhile, Josh Hazelwood held the record among RCB quicks.
Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar also broke Ashish Nehra's record and became the oldest Indian to take a four-for in the league's history.
