The 54th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI). In this match played at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium, Raipur on Sunday (10), RCB registered a thrilling victory by 2 wickets. MI, who came to bat first after losing the toss, scored 166 runs at the loss of 7 wickets, which RCB achieved by losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. This match continued till the last ball, in which RCB won and captured the top in the points table. Whereas MI’s remaining hopes have ended.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar turned the tables
While chasing the target, RCB lost the wickets of Virat Kohli (0), Devdutt Padikkal (12) and captain Rajat Patidar (8) in the powerplay. Krunal Pandya, who was promoted to number 5, took charge at one end and kept RCB in the match by scoring 73 runs in 46 balls. He was out on the last ball of the 18th over. At this time RCB needed 18 runs in 12 balls. Jasprit Bumrah, who came in the 19th over, gave only 3 runs and put MI ahead in the match. Now RCB had to score 15 runs in the last over.
Young player Raj Angad Bawa started the 20th over with a wide and a no-ball. However, he did not allow Romario Shepherd to make a big shot. Raj Angad Bawa raised MI’s hopes of victory by dismissing Shepherd on the third ball but Bhuvneshwar Kumar turned the tables by hitting a six as soon as he arrived. Bhuvneshwar took a single on the fifth ball. RCB needed 2 runs on the last ball. Rasikh Salam Dar played the full ball back to the bowler, which Raj Angad Bawa could not catch and the ball rolled towards long on. By the time it was fielded and thrown to the keeper, Bhuvneshwar and Rasikh ran away and stole 2 runs and gave RCB a thrilling win.

MI got off to a poor start when invited to bat first. In-form Ryan Rickleton (2) became the victim of Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the very first over. After this, Rohit Sharma played some big shots but he too could not last long. Bhuvneshwar also made him move. Rohit returned to the pavilion after scoring 22 runs in 10 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes. Bhuvneshwar shook MI’s top order by taking the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav on the next ball.
MI had lost 3 wickets for 28 runs. From here, Naman Dheer and Tilak Verma took charge and made MI an early setback by making a partnership of 82 runs for the fourth wicket. Naman Dhir was out after playing a good innings of 47 runs in 32 balls. After his departure, MI’s innings slowed down but Tilak Verma stood till the end and took the team to a fighting score. Tilak scored 57 runs in 42 balls, which included 3 fours and 2 sixes. However, his hard work went in vain.
