New Delhi. A devastating suicide attack took place late Saturday night in Pakistan’s Bannu district. A suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into a Fateh Khel police checkpoint. The powerful blast killed 15 policemen and injured three others. Officials confirmed the incident.

The explosion was so powerful that the police checkpoint was completely reduced to rubble. Bannu DIG Sajjad Khan said the blast caused massive destruction and buried several soldiers under the debris. Rescue teams safely pulled three police officers from the rubble after an overnight operation. The injured were immediately admitted to the district headquarters hospital, where the DIG visited to review their treatment.

Officials have identified the deceased soldiers as Rehmat Ayaz, Sanaullah, Niaz Ali, Habib, Sadullah Jan, Kamran (son of Khan Sikandar), another Kamran, Noorullah, Abid Jani, Imran, Kalimullah, Sadiqullah, Munir Alam Khan, Rahatullah Khan, and Farooq. The injured soldiers have been identified as Mujrim Firoz, Hayatullah, and Kadrullah.

According to reports, the explosion was so powerful that it was heard in remote areas of the district. Nearby homes and civilian buildings were also significantly damaged. Eyewitnesses say the blast caused the roofs of several houses to collapse. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi strongly condemned the attack.

Earlier on Sunday, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for 10 operations in various areas of Balochistan. The group claimed to have carried out attacks in Kharan, Washuk, Awaran, Kech, and Mastung, killing 10 security personnel and four other civilians. BLF spokesman Major Gwaharam Baloch said its fighters targeted military camps, convoys, and security personnel for a road construction company. He also claimed that a checkpoint in Kharan town was attacked with rockets and grenade launchers on May 3, causing significant damage. The group also claimed to have seized weapons and destroyed surveillance cameras.
