NEET UG 2026 Under Investigation: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed these reports, stating that information regarding suspicious activities has already been forwarded to central agencies for investigation.
NEET UG 2026 Under Investigation: NEET UG 2026—India's largest entrance examination for admission into medical colleges—is currently making headlines due to reports of certain irregularities. The National Testing Agency (NTA) publicly confirmed these reports, stating that details concerning suspicious activities have already been sent to central agencies for a thorough investigation. This matter came to light following an operation conducted by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG), which has drawn renewed attention to the integrity and transparency of the NEET examination.
NTA's Measures to Ensure Exam Security
The NTA stated that comprehensive security arrangements were implemented for the NEET UG examination held on May 3, 2026. The agency also clarified that it would refrain from making any predictions regarding the outcome of the ongoing investigation. To ensure the security of the NEET UG 2026 examination, the NTA implemented several stringent measures. Question papers were transported in GPS-tracked vehicles and featured special watermarks to facilitate their traceability. Examination centers were monitored using AI-assisted CCTV systems, and biometric authentication was made mandatory for every candidate. Additionally, 5G jammers were installed to prevent any digital malpractice or unauthorized communication. The objective behind all these measures was to reassure students and their families that the examination was conducted in a completely secure and fair manner.
Information Regarding Alleged Irregularities and the Investigation
The NTA disclosed that it received information regarding the alleged irregularities on May 7—four days after the examination was conducted. The following day—May 8—this information was forwarded to central agencies. Although the NTA did not specify the nature of the irregularities, it confirmed that central agencies have now initiated an investigation into the matter. The intervention of Rajasthan's Special Operations Group (SOG) has drawn even greater attention to this case.
NTA Clarifies
The NTA clarified that it would not preempt the outcome of the investigation. The agency stated that any findings or subsequent actions would be disclosed to the public in a transparent manner. Given that an examination like NEET UG is inextricably linked to the future of millions of students, any irregularities associated with it could become a matter of grave concern.
