RCB vs KKR: Varun Chakaravarthy Expected to Miss IPL 2026 Showdown
Cricket Gully | May 11, 2026 2:39 PM CST

KKR may have suffered a fresh injury setback just as their winning run gains pace in IPL 2026. The star spinner Varun Chakaravarthy appeared in public while wearing a leg brace which covered his left foot.

The video of the incident became popular on social media on Sunday, May 10, which occurred two days before KKR faced their important match against defending champions RCB. The footage has raised concerns over a possible ankle or foot issue, putting his availability for the key match in doubt.

On Sunday, May 10, Varun Chakaravarthy was seen in the hotel lobby wearing the brace. He walked with discomfort while he needed a cane to help him move.

The exact time of the viral clip remains unverified because Chakaravarthy already experienced an injury problem during KKR's previous match against Delhi Capitals which took place earlier this week. The 34-year-old bowler performed his complete four-over bowling duty during match number 51 in Delhi but appeared uncomfortable because he walked with a limp throughout his bowling performance.

He required medical treatment at one moment when he sat down at the boundary area because he showed distress symptoms while playing. Varun Chakaravarthy left the field after finishing his bowling performance and he remained in the dugout until the end of the game.

The spinner faces a new injury problem which occurred during the match against Delhi Capitals and the viral video evidence which shows his condition will prevent him from playing for KKR in their May 13th match against RCB at Raipur.

The IPL 2026 season marks a crucial period for Varun Chakaravarthy, who has become an essential player for KKR. He has taken eight wickets in his last four matches, including match-winning three-wicket hauls against Rajasthan Royals in Kolkata and SRH in Hyderabad on April 19 and May 3.

KKR managed to achieve a four-match winning streak which matched their earlier winning period that followed their initial five IPL 2026 defeats.

The experienced spinner has achieved 10 wickets during eight innings this season while maintaining an average of 25.

With four wins, five losses and one no-result from 10 matches, KKR currently sit seventh in the IPL 2026 points table. The team will compete against defending champions RCB in match number 57 on Wednesday, May 13.

The match will start at 7:30 PM IST at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium located in Raipur. Ajinkya Rahane's team needs to win all their matches to maintain their playoff chances.
