Today, Delhi is set to experience a shift in weather conditions. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for rain today and tomorrow, predicting strong winds and thunderstorms. Additionally, warnings of extreme heat and heatwaves have been issued for Rajasthan, Gujarat, and western Madhya Pradesh. The IMD has alerted several states about heavy rainfall, strong winds, hailstorms, and heatwaves from May 11 to May 16.
Delhi's Temperature Forecast
The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius. Light rain, thunderstorms, and winds gusting at 40-50 km/h are anticipated in the afternoon, attributed to an active western disturbance.
Storms and Rain in Uttar Pradesh
The IMD has issued alerts for thunderstorms and rain in several districts of Uttar Pradesh on May 12 and 13. Light rain accompanied by lightning is also expected in Punjab and Haryana from May 11 to 14. In Bihar and Jharkhand, warnings of thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail in certain areas have been issued.
Weather Conditions in MP and Rajasthan
On Saturday, Barmer in Rajasthan recorded the highest temperature in the country at 46.8 degrees Celsius. Heatwave warnings have been issued for Gujarat, western Rajasthan, and western Madhya Pradesh until May 14. The weather department has advised people to avoid going out during the afternoon, stay hydrated, and remain vigilant.
Alert in Uttarakhand
An orange alert has been issued in Uttarakhand. Authorities have urged pilgrims and tourists visiting the Char Dham to exercise extreme caution during their travels on May 12 and 13. Rain is expected in various parts of Uttarakhand over the next 48 hours. According to the weather department, thunderstorms and hail are likely in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand in the coming days.
Heavy Rain Alerts in Northeast India
Heavy rain and strong winds alerts have been issued for Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Significant rainfall is expected in Meghalaya and Assam between May 13 and 16. Continuous rainfall is likely in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Heavy rain is anticipated in several locations in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala from May 11 to May 16.
