Sky News presenter Samara Gill slammed Meghan Markle, claiming she only wants royal titles to use as a "cash grab". Speaking to fellow news presenter Danica De Giorgio on the latest episode of Danica Goes Global, the pair discussed reports Meghan wants to reclaim her "Princess" title.

Gill observed: "I think she does want the validation, but she also wants to continue to coast off the royal titles, and I think that's been one of the most damning and heartbreaking things for the royal family to have to witness - her secretly using some of the titles in letter headings, and then them finding out about it. Because she sent a fruit basket to a podcast a friend and used the HRH," she said, referencing an incident in April 2025 where she sent a gift basket to a podcast presenter, and included a card stating: "with the compliments of HRH, Duchess of Sussex".

While Meghan technically became a Princess upon her marriage to In 2018, Prince Harry in 2018 she has never officially styled as Princess Meghan, and her primary title has always been the Duchess of Sussex. British royal protocol generally reserves the "Princess" style for those born into the royal family.

Gill continued: "And you know, it's not Meghan Markle. It's Meghan Sussex. Now, the infamous turn of phrase that she uttered to Mindy Kaling, and then sort of was quite strong about everyone calling her Megan Sussex, which never quite took off.

"She's obsessed with the royal family, and she's obsessed...with the cash grab that she can make off it.

"And I think you're seeing with these faux royal tours, the way that she wants to foray back into the royal family, but in a way that she can have her cake and eat it too," she said.

"As I've always said, they are gig economy Royals, where they want to work three days a week and then float back into California when it suits them and coast off those royal titles, whereas that's not what being a royal is about at all.

"It's about service. It's about dignity and respect for your nation, and about diplomacy, which the king so beautifully displayed in Washington just last week or two weeks ago.

"So I think it is a really, really trashy ploy. And the fact that she wants to be called Princess Meghan again...well, you haven't earned that Meghan, so just drop it. It's never going to be you," Gill raged.

De Giorgio chimed in, pointing out: "[When] she was in Australia, [she said] just call me Meg. She wants to be Meghan, the Duchess. She wants to be Megan, Sussex [everywhere else]. But in Australia, 'just call me Meg, please'. Just like I'm such a relatable woman, that the everyday woman. It's just crazy."
