PBKS vs DC Toss & Playing XI, IPL 2026: Delhi Wins Toss and Opts to Bowl First in Match 55
Cricket Gully | May 11, 2026 10:39 PM CST

All attention turns to Dharamsala as Punjab Kings face the Delhi Capitals in Match 55 of IPL 2026 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. Both teams are in need of a win with the playoff race now nearing its climax, while Punjab Kings are teetering on the edge of losing any momentum they have had after losing 3 on the bounce. The Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, are hanging by a thread and their only chance of qualification relies on a significant surge in form in the closing stages. PBKS already managed to chase down DC for 265 earlier in this season, so will be feeling confident ahead of this encounter.

PBKS' batting has been extremely consistent for the large part of the competition, with opening duo Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh proving to be particularly damaging. However once the openers fall, sides have exploited the Punjab middle order's instability and exposed any weaknesses. One of the positives from this season for the PBKS has been Cooper Connolly, whose debut has been exceptional while Suryansh Shedge has also shone. This is outweighed by the issues with the bowling attack with Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh's inconsistent bowling.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals have capitulated on their early-season promise with their campaign sliding completely. With qualification now seemingly an unrealistic task and their net run-rate already taking a major hit, captain Axar Patel has mentioned he will look to give some time on the pitch to the players currently on the bench. However even with their poor run, the Capitals still have more than enough quality to test the Punjab Kings in favorable conditions. The average first innings score at Dharamsala since the 2023 IPL season is 209 so this could prove to be a very high scoring match. With thunderstorms predicted for the beginning of the day, the weather conditions may improve as the game goes on.

At the toss, Delhi have won and chose to bowl first.
