Chandigarh: Bhagwant Mann’s cousin Zian Singh Mann on Monday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
AAP leaders Baljinder Barnala and Manjinder Khera also joined the BJP during the event. Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar was present on the occasion.
Speaking after joining the BJP, Zian Singh Mann said, “People of Punjab were attracted by the promises made by the AAP and brought them to power in 2022. But after coming to power, they changed from being ordinary people to becoming special. Instead of fulfilling their promises, they started doing the opposite. This disappointed me and that is why I decided to leave the party.”
He further said that the BJP’s slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” inspired him to join the party and added that only the BJP could work for Punjab.
Reacting to the development, Sunil Jakhar said, “The BJP family is truly expanding. However, Bhagwant Mann’s own family now appears to be divided. The joining of his close relative Zian Singh Mann into the BJP clearly reflects the changing political situation. Law and order in Punjab has completely collapsed.”
The political development comes shortly after six AAP Rajya Sabha members from Punjab reportedly switched to the BJP. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has meanwhile continued to attack the BJP on several political issues.
