IPL 2026: Why Lockie Ferguson is not Playing Today in PBKS vs DC Clash
Cricket Gully | May 11, 2026 11:39 PM CST

Punjab Kings had a stumble before their big IPL 2026 match with Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala as fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was taken out of the game. PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer said at the toss that Ferguson had a slight niggle and would not be playing against DC

Australian pacer Ben Dwarshuis came in to replace Ferguson in the Punjab Kings eleven. The team management decided not to risk the New Zealand quick, because the tournament is moving into the final phase.

Ferguson has not been bowling well in the last few games. In Punjab Kings’ most recent match versus Sunrisers Hyderabad, he got 1 wicket but gave away 41 runs in his overs. Before that he suffered a tough spell against Rajasthan Royals, went wicketless and conceded 57 runs.

Lockie Ferguson Struggled Recently

The right-arm fast bowler has had trouble keeping runs down in IPL 2026. Even though Ferguson is still one of the fastest bowlers around, his displays this season have been patchy. His recent figures suggest Punjab Kings felt the pressure each time he was brought on, and the management might have used this break to let him heal properly and come back fresh for the remaining fixtures.

Ben Dwarshuis now has a big opportunity to do something for Punjab Kings. The left-arm quick can give a different option with the new ball, and also help in the late overs.
