
Kolkata, 11 May. The first cabinet meeting of the newly elected BJP government led by Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari in West Bengal was held on Monday. Five major decisions were taken during this meeting held in the presence of all five cabinet ministers along with Shubhendu.
In the first cabinet meeting, the voters of the state, the Election Commission and all the employees involved in this huge election process were thanked. CM Shubhendu said that governance, security and the roadmap of double engine government will be the top priority of this government.
The five important decisions of the cabinet are as follows –
- Ayushman Bharat scheme will be implemented. The state and central governments will work together to implement it in the state. Poor and vulnerable families get treatment through Ayushman Bharat Yojana. In this, annual coverage is available up to Rs 5 lakh every year. This treatment is cashless.
- As per rules, IPS and IAS officers will be allowed to participate in central training.
- BNS (Indian Judicial Code) came into force in the state with immediate effect. The CM alleged that the previous Mamata Banerjee-led government had not implemented BNS in violation of the Constitution. Work was being done only on IPC and CrPC.
- Land transfer work in border areas will start from today. The land will be transferred to the Border Security Force (BSF) within 45 days.
- The government will take full responsibility for the families of the 321 BJP workers who lost their lives in Bengal. It is noteworthy that BJP has claimed that during the Mamata government in Bengal, more than 300 of its workers were killed in political violence.

Giving information about the cabinet meeting, CM Shubhendu said, ‘In view of the constantly changing population in the border districts of Bengal, our cabinet has approved to start the process of handing over the necessary land to BSF for fencing the border. The Chief Secretary and the Secretary of the State Lands and Land Revenue Department have been asked to complete the process of land transfer within the next 45 days.
He said that the TMC government betrayed the Constitution and the people and deliberately stopped the census process in Bengal so that reservation for women could be stopped. But now the Cabinet has approved to implement the circular in the state with immediate effect.
New criminal law BNS comes into force with immediate effect
The Chief Minister also alleged that the Indian Justice Code (BNS) means the new criminal law, which is replacing the earlier IPC and CrPC. It was not officially implemented by the TMC government in the state. He said that official approval has been given to implement the new law in the first cabinet meeting.
