Peacock, NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, has officially announced that they will produce a live-action television series based on the hugely successful “Fast & Furious” film franchise. Vin Diesel, one of the franchise stars, has been confirmed as an executive producer for the show, which will be produced by Universal Television.

The announcement was made Monday morning during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation, which marked the conclusion of months of speculation about how to expand the popular franchise’s high-octane universe beyond the cinema.

Mike Daniels, who recently secured an NBC series order for a Rockford Files reboot, and Wolfe Coleman (Shades of Blue) will write the pilot. Alongside Diesel and Sam Vincent’s One Race Productions, key franchise producers Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty of Original Film, Chris Morgan, and Jeff Kirschenbaum are also attached as executive producers.

No plot details or casting information beyond Diesel’s involvement have been released. The series joins an existing animated Fast & Furious project at Netflix.

The news comes as the film franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special screening of the original 2001 movie at the Cannes Film Festival. Across eleven films, Fast & Furious has grossed more than $7 billion worldwide. The final installment, Fast Forever, is scheduled for theatrical release on March 17, 2028.
