There was a net investment of Rs 38,440 crore in equity mutual fund schemes in the month of April, which is about five percent less as compared to March. This information was received from the data released by industry body AMFI on Monday. According to Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi) data, monthly contributions through systematic investment plans (SIP) also declined to Rs 31,115 crore in April, compared to Rs 32,087 crore in March.
However, the mutual fund industry as a whole recorded a net investment of Rs 3.22 lakh crore during April, while there was a withdrawal of Rs 2.4 lakh crore in March. This increase in April mainly came from huge investment of Rs 2.5 lakh crore in debt-based debt funds.

Due to this inflow, the total assets under management (AUM) of the industry increased to Rs 81.92 lakh crore by the end of April, from Rs 73.73 lakh crore at the end of March. According to category-wise data, investment in equity fund schemes declined to Rs 38,440 crore in April while it was Rs 40,450 crore in March. However, this is more than Rs 25,978 crore in February.
Investments remained positive across most categories but dividend yield and equity-linked savings scheme (ELSS) funds recorded marginal outflows due to profit-booking and portfolio rebalancing.

In the equity segment, the maximum investment of Rs 10,148 crore came in Flexi Cap Fund. After this, there was investment of Rs 6,886 crore in small cap and Rs 6,551 crore in mid cap. Whereas in largecap, a net inflow of Rs 2,525 crore was recorded. Apart from this, investments worth Rs 3,040 crore came in gold-based gold ETFs during April, which is more than Rs 2,266 crore in March.
