From school classroom to car, 25-year-old Biology teacher accused of having sex with student; What did the police and school administration say?

The alleged sexual scandal that emerged from a high school in Douglasville, America, has created a stir in the entire area. 25-year-old biology teacher Maris Nichols has been arrested by the police for allegedly having sexual relations with a student. According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Nichols has been charged with two counts of sexually abusing a student by abusing supervisory authority. Investigating agencies claim that physical relations were allegedly established with the student on two separate occasions.

The first incident was reported to have taken place on April 23 in a closet between two classrooms of the school. The second incident occurred on May 2 inside a Hummer vehicle parked in a driveway in Douglasville. However, the officials have not made public the information about the owner of the vehicle and property.

The Douglas County School System issued a statement saying it was “deeply troubled” by the allegations. According to the school administration, an internal investigation was immediately initiated, the teacher concerned was sent on leave and full cooperation is being provided to law enforcement agencies. The school said the safety of students is its top priority and such behavior is a serious breach of professional standards.

Who is the accused teacher?

According to reports, Nichols first started working at Alexander High School as the football operations manager in 2023. Later he was appointed Biology teacher. He obtained degrees in science and teaching from Liberty University.

What happened in the court?

Nichols was presented in court through video conferencing, where his bail was set at $40,000. Later he was sent to Douglas County Jail.
