Shetkari Karjmafi | It is coming to the fore that the movement of farmer loan waiver has gained momentum. The government had promised to waive the loan till June 30, 2026. The government had also appointed a committee under the chairmanship of Praveen Pardeshi. This loan waiver has been named as Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar Shetkar Karjamafi and through this loan waiver, the loan of up to 2 lakh rupees of eligible farmers will be waived off by the government. Also, honest farmers who repay regular loans will be given an incentive of Rs. 50,000. Now comforting information is coming out about this loan waiver. The cooperative department has completed the important technical process regarding loan waiver and submitted the complete information to the state government. So now the curiosity of the final decision has increased.
According to the information received, the government aims to transfer the benefit of loan waiver to the accounts of eligible farmers before June 30. It is expected that approximately 34 to 35 lakh farmers in the state will benefit from this scheme. Interestingly, sources say that crop loans outstanding till September 30, 2025 can be eligible for this scheme.
For loan waiver process (Shetkari Karjmafi) Cooperative Department has collected very detailed information from banks. In this, the name, address, mobile number, account number, sanctioned loan amount, details of crop loan as well as information about outstanding amount with interest has been collected. Therefore, efforts have been made by the government to accurately screen the eligible beneficiaries.
Besides, data of regular loan defaulters and defaulters for three financial years 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 were also sought. Banks’ IFSC code, membership number, customer ID and land records are also included in this process. Now the final decision on this proposal is likely to be taken in the upcoming meeting of the state cabinet. In particular, there is a possibility that the loan waiver proposal may be sealed in the cabinet meeting to be held at the end of May. If this decision is approved, then lakhs of farmers who are facing financial difficulties can get a huge relief.
