The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against Sequel Buildcon Private Limited and its Directors over alleged fraudulent activities to a housing project in Noida.

An official release states that the accused company and its Directors, as part of a criminal conspiracy, allegedly misled homebuyers and investors with false assurances, deceptive promises, and misleading representations, thereby dishonestly obtaining financial gains and causing wrongful losses to the victims.

The charge sheet has been submitted to a competent court under relevant Indian Penal Code provisions concerning criminal conspiracy, cheating, and criminal breach of trust.

The CBI is currently investigating 50 cases registered following directions from the Supreme Court of India concerning multiple builder companies and unnamed officials of financial institutions across India in relation to alleged cheating and fund diversion involving homebuyers.

Previously, the CBI filed six charge sheets in similar cases against Rudra Buildwell Constructions Pvt. Ltd. and its Directors; Dream Procon Pvt. Ltd. and its Directors; Jaypee Infratech Ltd. and its Directors; AVJ Developers (India) Pvt. Ltd. and its Directors along with officers of certain banks and financial institutions; CHD Developers Pvt. Ltd. and its Directors; and Shubhkamna Buildtech Pvt. Ltd. and its Directors.

In a separate case, the CBI arrested the Superintendent of CGST Meerut and a Computer Operator from his office in connection with an alleged bribery incident, as reported on May 8.

The agency registered the case on May 6 against the Computer Operator at the Superintendent’s CGST Office, Range-I, Meerut, following allegations that he demanded an illegal gratification of Rs 6,000 on behalf of the Superintendent to revoke a show-cause notice issued to the complainant.

After a complaint, the CBI conducted a trap and reportedly caught the Computer Operator red-handed accepting and demanding the bribe amount for the Superintendent.

Both the Superintendent and the Computer Operator have been arrested, with further investigation ongoing, the agency stated.
