The auction of Bengal T20 League created a stir in Kolkata. The franchises spent around Rs 4.5 crore on both the men’s and women’s teams to prepare excellent squads for the 2026 season. From a pool of more than 1000 players, more than 250 got contracts. Among women, Mita Paul was the most expensive with Rs 3 lakh (RTM), taken by Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers. Among men, Shahbaz Ahmed tied with Shravan Tribes Rar Tigers at Rs 12.20 lakh.
Each men’s team has 17 players, with a minimum of two Under-19s mandatory. Women’s teams require 16 players, two under-15. A total of 136 male and 128 female players were signed. For the first time, such enthusiasm was seen in the men’s auction, where bids of more than Rs 8 lakh were placed on many.
Heavy investment on youth also: Men Under-19 Ravi Kumar 7.80 lakh (Novus Purulia Royals), Under-16 Rohit 5.20 lakh. Among women, Dhara Gujjar 2.85 lakh (Purulia), Tanushree Sarkar 2.35 lakh (RTM, Murshidabad Queens). 13 year old Ariktha Manna joins Rashmi Medinipur Wizards for Rs 1.55 lakh.
Men Top-10: Shahbaz (12.20L), Abhishek Porel (10.40L), Mukesh Kumar (9.60L), Sudeep Gharami (9.40L) etc. Women: Meeta (3L), Dhara (2.85L), Priyanka Bala (2.25L) etc. Ariktha, Debasmita Khalsa (65 thousand) are prominent in Under-15. 88 lakhs spent on women auction. This auction will strengthen the future of Bengal cricket.
