In this digital age, it has become very common for people to send wedding invitations and other private function invitations through WhatsApp. This has become a common practice these days as traditional personal invitations are becoming less common.
Well, it seems like scammers and fraudsters are now also trying to take advantage of this situation as they are doing the same with these WhatsApp invitations.
Apparently, these fraudsters have started sending wedding invitations through WhatsApp, and there is a fraudulent malware link attached to it. When the receiver downloads the APK application that comes with the wedding invitation on WhatsApp, it gives the hacker the ability to hack the sensitive information of the phone.
It is reported that a businessman in Bengaluru has already lost ₹ 5,00,000 after falling prey to this scam in the name of wedding invitation.
So from now on, when you get a wedding invitation or any such invitation message on WhatsApp, be very careful while opening it. Any rash decision can have serious financial consequences.
For the past few months, fake traffic challenge scams have looted people and now wedding invitation scams have taken hold.
