Delhi News: Great news is emerging for the women of Delhi. The Delhi government may soon launch a scheme to provide monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 to women. According to media reports, registration for this scheme could begin in June 2026. However, the exact date will be officially announced by the government separately. Previously, this scheme was referred to as the 'Mahila Samriddhi Yojana,' but there is now talk of renaming it the 'Delhi Lakshmi Yojana.' This scheme was one of the major promises made by the BJP government during the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. The government is now actively engaged in preparations to implement this scheme on the ground.
**₹2,500 to be Credited Directly to Accounts Every Month**
Under this scheme, women belonging to economically weaker sections will receive ₹2,500 every month, sent directly to their bank accounts. The Delhi government had also allocated a provision of ₹5,100 crore for this purpose in the 2026-27 budget. It is estimated that approximately 1.7 million women could benefit from this scheme.
**Which Women Will Be Eligible for the Scheme?**
Not all women will be eligible to avail themselves of the benefits of this scheme. Certain essential criteria have been established for eligibility, such as:

* The woman must be a resident of Delhi and have resided here for at least five years.
* The woman must not be employed in a government job, nor be a retired government employee.
* The woman must not be currently availing benefits from any other government scheme.

* The scheme will be implemented by the Department of Women and Child Development, the portfolio for which is currently held by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta herself.
**Which Documents Might Be Required for Registration?**
