New Delhi: The government of India has decided to cancel the NEET(UG) 2026 examination and will re-conduct the paper on a revised date.
The NEET UG exam was conducted on May 3, 2026, and with the reports of a paper leak surfacing from Rajasthan, a detailed probe was launched by the Rajasthan Special Operation (SOG).
The National Testing Agency (NTA) referred the NEET exam leak claims to the central agencies on May 8 for verification and necessary actions. The Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) has initiated the investigation of the alleged NEET UG 2026 exam leak. NTA advised candidates, their parents, and stakeholders to await further notice.
Over 22 lakh candidates appeared for the NEET UG 2026 exam. The decision has been taken to restore trust in the national examination system, as nearly 140 questions were matched to the actual paper, which officials found out during the investigation.

Originally, the NEET UG 2026 paper leak case was reported from Sikar, Rajasthan. The questions were handwritten on paper, and when the officials found out that the options sequence was also matching with nearly 140 questions, the Rajasthan Police (SOG) admitted that the NEET UG 2026 paper was leaked before the examination.
After the officials’ investigation, around 120 to 150 questions were identical to the actual exam, including 30 from chemistry and 90 from biology.
