New Delhi: Seven people, including a senior ISI officer, were killed and over 18 others injured in an explosion at a marketplace in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan on Tuesday. This is the second such deadly attack in the region in four days, a senior police official said.
Pak-Afghan border tensions
The bomb blast took place near Pak-Afghan border’s Bannu district. The attack could reignite the tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, whose armies clashed intensely this year.
“Fire vehicles and ambulances have been dispatched to the scene of blast,” “Deputy Superintendent of Police Nawrang Saeed Khan said those with serious injuries had been rushed to hospital in Bannu.
Second blast in last four days
The hospital’s medical superintendent Mohammad Ishaq said the hospital has received 37 patients, the condition of some of whom is critical.
This is the second blast in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in last four days. The first explosion took place on Saturday (May 9) in which a militant attacked a police checkpoint with a car bomb, killing 15 police officers.
