On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his support for the newly elected BJP government's decisions in West Bengal, highlighting their focus on public welfare. He conveyed his happiness regarding Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's approval of the Ayushman Bharat scheme's implementation in the state. In his post, PM Modi emphasized that the welfare of the people of West Bengal is paramount, stating his delight that residents will benefit from the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which is the largest health initiative globally, ensuring high-quality and affordable healthcare services. Additionally, he noted that the dual-engine government will facilitate the smooth execution of major central schemes.
First Cabinet Meeting and Key Decisions
After taking the oath as Chief Minister on May 9, Suvendu Adhikari chaired his first cabinet meeting on Monday, where he approved the transfer of land to the Border Security Force (BSF) for fencing along the India-Bangladesh border. The cabinet made six significant decisions, including the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state. The newly elected Chief Minister stated that the issue of illegal immigration will be addressed by transferring land to the Home Ministry within 45 days, a move aimed at advancing the BJP's electoral agenda.
Implementation of Central Welfare Schemes
Adhikari mentioned that the process of transferring land to the BSF will commence immediately, with the goal of completing the transfer to the Home Ministry within 45 days. Once finalized, the BSF will complete the fencing work at the border, effectively addressing the illegal immigration issue. He also announced that central welfare schemes, including Ayushman Bharat and the Jan Arogya Yojana, will now be implemented in West Bengal.
Active Rollout of Major Central Schemes
The process to actively implement key central government schemes, such as the Prime Minister's Jan Arogya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Bima Yojana, PM Shri Yojana, Vishwakarma Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana, and the Ujjwala Yojana, has already begun in the state. District magistrates have been instructed to promptly forward all applications to the relevant central ministries.
