Patna: Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari has given a statement on which a big controversy has arisen. He has said that there is no need for girls to study and write and they should stay within the four walls of the house. After this statement he has come under the target of critics.

Asking the question, the minister said, 'What is the need for education? The daughters of our house are our strength. When Modiji is standing for them, why do they need to go out to study? People are expressing their anger on social media against this statement of newly appointed Education Minister Tiwari.
When journalists told him that education was the right of girls, the minister replied that girls would get their rights automatically. Critics say that when the country is talking about women empowerment, then making such a statement by a minister is like weakening India from within. People are writing on social media that it is very shameful to have such thinking even in 2026.
Mithilesh Tiwari is BJP MLA from Baikunthpur in Gopalganj district. Surprisingly, he himself is a BA (Hons) in Economics and has also been a teacher. For some time he also ran a coaching institute in Patna.
Tiwari started his political journey in 1988 with ABVP. In 1990, he joined BJP and entered active politics. During the RJD regime, he contested the elections as a BJP candidate in February 2005, but lost. In 2015, he won the election by defeating the JD(U)-RJD candidate. He lost from Baikunthpur in the 2020 elections. Mithilesh became MLA by defeating RJD candidate in 2025.
