In their IPL 2026 encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Gujarat Titans have surprised their fans when they stepped out on the ground in a special lavender colored jersey instead of their usual blue and gold kit. The match is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium and on this occasion the franchise has again come out to spread cancer awareness.

The fourth consecutive year that the Gujarat Titans have worn the lavender jersey to promote their campaign supporting cancer patients, survivors, and families. The campaign was first initiated by the Gujarat Titans during IPL 2023 and continues each year to date.

The color Lavender is a symbol all around the world that stands in support for any form of cancer. The franchise comes out in their solidarity against this disease and aims to spread its awareness.

Before the match, Gujarat Titans also put out a video in social media on what the campaign is all about: "The Titans go Lavender on May 12. We step onto the ground against SRH with a bigger purpose, to stand together united in the fight against cancer."

In the same video GT fast bowler Mohammed Siraj said: "

"There were many ups and downs in the beginning, both as a player and as a team. But the way we’ve made a comeback after that, you really need courage to do something like that. It’s very important to stay positive; it’s very important to stay in the present. Don’t hold anything back: go all in. The most important thing for me is whether I gave my 100% or not."

The Indian pacer spoke passionately about the cancer awareness campaign:

"Many people in India are fighting against cancer, so it’s important to stand with them. The GT family has taken a stand for this cause, so I feel very grateful to be a part of this and to have taken this stand. So, this is a very emotional and special match for me."

GT's previous games played in the lavender jersey have seen some brilliant encounters. In the 2023 season, Gujarat Titans managed to beat SRH playing in the same special jersey. Captain Shubman Gill scored his maiden IPL century in that match as both Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma took crucial wickets, eventually GT became the first side in that season to qualify for the play-offs.

In the year 2024, they played their lavender game against Kolkata Knight Riders but a match was abandoned without a single ball being played due to rain. Nevertheless in the 2025 edition they had a convincing win against LSG with thousands of fans displaying lavender flags.
