For many people, cleaning windows ranks amongst the least enjoyable household chores. It can be time-consuming, back-breaking work, and all too often the windows appear grimy again almost immediately.
Fortunately, a YouTuber claims to have cracked the problem - and the solution involves an ordinary household ingredient you most likely already have at home.
American Tom Szontagh, who runs the channel Alley Picked, has revealed to his followers how they can achieve streak-free windows using a method that is quicker, simpler and more cost-effective than traditional approaches.
According to Tom, from the US state of Illinois, the answer to your window-cleaning woes is vinegar.
He opens the video by saying: "Vinegar - it can remove rust. It removes mould and mildew off the side of the house. It's even used in salad dressing, come on!" reports the Liverpool Echo.
"But did you know that you can use it to clean windows? That's right, streak-free window cleaning using vinegar.
"Let's face it, you've probably never cleaned the outside of the windows on your house. Maybe the insides once every spring. Here's a tip that's going to make this chore, faster, easier and cheaper."
Tom then proceeds to reveal his secret formula. He starts with half a teaspoon of any washing-up liquid before adding half a gallon of water, which amounts to just over two litres.
He then adds a cup of vinegar. After several minutes, the suds begin to settle. Tom continues: "You don't want it to suddsy, a simple squeegee like this works great. I bought this on Amazon for $18 (£13), soak it in the water and squeeze off the dripping excess.
"Now, find a dirty window. Scrub it thoroughly for a few seconds, then squeegee off the water. It doesn't get easier than that. This of course works great on inside windows as well.
"Whenever I have a job to do that I hate I try to do it fast, and now you can too."
This follows another YouTuber who revealed how to get your driveway spotless in just 10 minutes using only two ingredients.
According to the channel Sticks and Homes, the method requires no pressure washer and eliminates the need for scrubbing, saving both time and money in the process.
The two items needed to complete the task are remarkably straightforward - some outdoor bleach and a pump sprayer.
James suggests you should be able to pick up a one gallon pump sprayer, equivalent to almost four litres, for around $10 (just over £7).
He said: "It's a simple one gallon pump sprayer, if you don't have one, you should seriously get one. They're like $10 (in £). And that's it. The mixture is going to be two to one, so two parts water, one part bleach."
