Rumors around the film adaptation of The Immortals of Meluha created buzz online after reports suggested that Indian actor Ranveer Singh had acquired rights for a big-screen trilogy. The claims had also linked the project to a large cinematic universe plan.
However, author Amish Tripathi had clearly denied these reports and stated that no such agreements had been made.
Speaking to Variety India, Amish Tripathi had said, “The rights for the Shiva Trio are with me. And nothing has been linked with anyone as yet.”
He had added that while he admired Ranveer and appreciated his work, the reports circulating online were not accurate.
Earlier, the Rocky and Rani Kii Prem Kahani actor has reportedly picked up the rights to The Immortals of Meluha and is now developing it as a three part film series under his production house, Maa Kasam Film.
According to pinkvillathe project is still in its early stages, but work on the screenplay and world-building has already started.
The Dhurandhar actor is said to be collaborating with Ananya Birla and Birla Studios on the adaptation.
As of now, the author’s clarification had put the rumours to rest, confirming that no official deal had been signed regarding the adaptation rights.
