Indrajit Nattoji , who directed
Aafat-e-Ishq , is exploring themes of womanhood , identity and late self-discovery in his latest featurette
Madam Driver , now available online. Starring Kitu Gidwani alongside Ankit Siwach and Bhavna Pani , the film is set in small-town Gujarat and follows a 55-year-old widow who decides to learn driving, gradually confronting grief, social conditioning and her own sense of freedom in the process. The film shot on a phone adopts a restrained and intimate storytelling style.
The filmmaker added that driving in the film becomes symbolic of confidence, dependence and self-worth, while the story reflects the everyday emotional realities many women experience. Contrasting it with the stylised and satirical tone of
Aafat-e-Ishq, Nattoji described
Madam Driver as quieter, more observational and deeply rooted in emotional recognition.
