First 15 then 9 deaths… Ittihad-ul-Mujahideen spreading terror in Khyber, Pakistan, questions on Kabul connection

The continuous terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan have raised serious questions on the security system there. First, 15 people died in the attack in Bannu and now 9 people lost their lives in Lakki Marwat. After these two attacks, the name of a new terrorist organization “Ittihad-ul-Mujahideen” is rapidly coming to the fore.

The special thing is that these attacks are taking place at a time when the ceasefire is in force between Pakistan and Afghanistan and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been relatively quiet for the last few months. In such a situation, questions are being raised in Pakistan as to which organization has now become active in the areas under the influence of TTP.

According to BBC Urdu report, Ittihad-ul-Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the recent attacks in Khyber. This organization was established in 2025. It is said that three terrorist organizations—Islamic Revolution, Lashkar-e-Islam and Hafiz Gul Bahadur group—had created it together.

Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction was earlier believed to be linked to Tehreek-e-Taliban. The Pakistan government once called it “Good Taliban”, but now elements associated with this group are becoming active again through a new organization.

According to reports, Ittihad-ul-Mujahideen avoids direct major military confrontation and mainly targets its targets through suicide attacks. The organization is also said to be active on the social media platform Telegram, where propaganda material is posted in Pashto, Urdu and English languages.

After the recent attacks in Bannu and Lakki Marwat, the Pakistan government has summoned the Afghan diplomat. Pakistan alleges that this terrorist organization has connections with Kabul and the attack is being planned from the soil of Afghanistan.

Although there has been no official response from Afghanistan on these allegations yet, Pakistan’s security agencies are constantly keeping an eye on the terrorist network across the border.

Experts believe that after the weakening of Tehreek-e-Taliban, many small terrorist groups are coming together with new names and strategies. Ittihad-ul-Mujahideen is also considered to be part of the same process.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has long been an area affected by terrorism and extremism. Due to its proximity to the Afghan border, it has always been challenging for Pakistan to stop terrorist activities here. Now the activism of the new organization has further increased the concern of the Pakistan government.
