Ranveer Singh is basking in the success of the movie Dhurandhar; his role as Hamza in both parts has not only wowed fans but also amazed critics. However, amid the success, Ranveer Singh has also been garnering headlines for his alleged fallout with Farhan Akhtar over Don 3.

If this wasn't enough to grab headlines, several social media posts and news outlets reported that the actor will essay the role of Lord Shiva in a grand big-screen adaptation of author Amish Tripathi's Shiva Trilogy, popularly known as The Immortals of Meluha series.

The reports claimed that Ranveer had acquired The Immortals of Meluha by Amish Tripathi to develop it with Birla Studios and was thus expected to play Lord Shiva. The reports also mentioned that the movie will be made in three parts.

As per Pinkvilla, "Ranveer has been passionate about bringing Meluha to the big screen for a long time now. The acquisition happened recently, and the project is now officially under development. Makers are approaching the franchise as a long-term cinematic universe, and the plan is to tell the story over three films. The writing work has already begun, and the team is taking its time to crack the screenplay and world-building. The first part is expected to go on floors in 2028," the publication quoted a source as saying.

However, the Amish now denied the reports. Speaking to Variety India, Tripathi said, "The rights for the Shiva Trilogy are with me. And nothing has been signed with anyone as yet. Of course, I have huge respect for Ranveer, and am a big fan of his. But this news is not true."

The Immortals of Meluha film

The Immortals of Meluha was initially set to be adapted into a big-budget film by Karan Johar, with Karan Malhotra attached to direct it. Johar had acquired the rights in 2012, but the project was eventually shelved due to concerns over possible backlash regarding the portrayal of an Indian God on screen.

All about The Immortals of Meluha Amrish's book

Published in 2010, The Immortals of Meluha is the first book of Amish Tripathi's Shiva Trilogy and marks the beginning of his shared universe of stories, dubbed the Amishverse. The three novels follow the rise of a Himalayan warrior named Shiva who arrives at the ancient kingdom of Meluha. The books blend mythology, history, and realism, turning the Indus Valley Civilisation into Meluha and presenting Shiva as a mortal man who attains the mantle of a God after the kingdom believes he is Neelkanth, their fabled saviour.

Work Front

Ranveer is all set to star next in Pralay; as of now, an official announcement is awaited. The film will be directed by Jai Mehta, son of Hansal Mehta, who co-directed the smash hit Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. Pralay will mark Jai Mehta's debut in feature films.
